A new year resolution(s)

January 2nd, 2008 ideru

I’m not much of fulfilling resolutions, cause I really like making plans spontaneously so lets just consider this as a checklist for year 2008.

  • Loose those extra flabs around the middle :D
  • Work harder on my nihongo studies
  • Work harder on my stamina for the next dragon boat season

I guess that is all for now :D

Another Freaky Encounter…

November 29th, 2007 ideru

While Lisa and I were admiring the bonsai chrysanthemum at Daisen Park’s Japanese Garden ..

collage11.jpg

this balding Japanese guy came over and ask if we want to have our pictures taken, we politely said no and continue with our business of making theories about how the bonsai roots turn out like that when he interrupted us again asking if we can take his pictures together with the bonsai or so we thought. Lisa took the disposable camera from him while I continue taking pictures, and then he suddenly suggested an area saying that it was better location while calling me to join him.. I was like HA?? I have no idea why I went and join in the picture taking.. and then he called Lisa and asked me to take the picture this time.

It was really stupid, we have no idea why we agreed to have our pictures taken with him. After saying thanks, he tried to converse with us asking if we are Chinese girls and we said NO and hurriedly went to another display. We thought he went away already, but he came back and gave us some tissues, hehehee.. and then we to another display while keeping an eye on him in order to avoid him..

While going to the Tea House, we saw him again in the gate  and we hurriedly enter the tea house, pretending not to saw him .. darn . We thought that was the last of him but when we return the bike I rented we saw him on the opposite side of the road and he wave at us, Lisa waved back .. Now that was really getting freaky coincidental .. wahhhh he has our pics though..

anyways here are some of the displayed chrysanthemum we took

Blood Type Personality Theory

November 12th, 2007 ideru

I never cared much about blood types, except when its ’bout medical information, much less blood type = personality.

Back at home (Philippines) most people don’t know what blood type they have unless they donate  to the Red Cross or need any blood-related emergency. Here in Japan, you need to know cause even during introduction you would be asked about your blood type ( not all the time though ). If you don’t know, they would then see what personality you have and guess your group, most of the time they are correct though :D

Here is the Japanese Blood Personality Chart

Type A :

Best Traits: Earnest, creative, sensible

Worst Traits:  Fastidious, overearnest

Type B:

Best Traits: Wild, a doer, cheerful

Worst Traits: Selfish, irresponsible

Type AB:

Best Traits: cool, controlled, rational

Worst Traits: critical, indecisive

Type O:

Best Traits: Agreeable, sociable, an optimits

Worst Traits: Vain, careless

All Things Bright and Beautiful

October 30th, 2007 ideru

1. All things bright and beautiful,

All creatures great and small,

All things wise and wonderful,

The Lord God made them all.

2. Each little flower that opens,

Each little bird that sings,

He made their glowing colours,

He made their tiny wings.

All things bright …

3. The rich man in his castle,

The poor man at his gate,

God made them, high or lowly,

And order’d their estate.

All things bright …

4. The purple headed mountains,

The river running by,

The sunset and the morning,

That brightens up the sky;−

All things bright …

5. The cold wind in the winter,

The pleasant summer sun,

The ripe fruits in the garden,−

He made them every one:

All things bright …

6. The tall trees in the greenwood,

The meadows where we play,

The rushes by the water,

We gather every day;−

All things bright …

7. He gave us eyes to see them,

And lips that we might tell,

How great is God Almighty,

Who has made all things well.

All things bright …

(Amen)

Here is more information about this poem/hymn

I was in grade school when I learn this poem ( I learned it as a poem not as a hymn) and fell in love with it. My grandma ( my father’s mother) can still memorize all of it even at the age of 60 ( I think). When she heard me practicing this, she called and told me that she knew the poem. So I asked here to recite it for me, and she recited it perfectly. Then we would alternately recite it, then sometimes we recite it together. She knew the original version and I knew the edited version , so it was like hearing two different generation. This is just one of the few fond memories I had with my grandma, so whenever I remember this poem, I remember her. She was not much of a grandma, but she was one of the strongest and bravest woman I know. Why? She was totally blind half of her lifetime because her eyes were ravaged by cataract. She did have an operation though, but she was so stubborn and did not listen to the doctor and went immediately back to her business as a restaurant owner, so complication started and before any could react both eyes were already damaged. But even though she was blind, she still does most of the housework , cook , tend to her pigs, clean the house. As a kid I tried imitating her being blind, and we always have some chats about her life. She was always honest. She has lots of experience, even the time when they fled from the Japanese during WWII so I always asked her to tell me stories of her past. She never saw me or any of my cousin except for the oldest cousin, but most people always told me that I was her splitting image(as a kid) when she was still young, but am not sure though I have not seen any of her picture as a young woman. Grandma’s beauty was known to be a head-turner, she was tall and slim and have that “spanish beauty”, she was might really be beautiful.

To Grandma Aurelia Pugoy Yllanan Malingin, may your rest in peace and found ALL Things bright

November 1 is celebrated as All Souls Day in the Philippines.

High School Life .. Oh my High School

October 5th, 2007 ideru

High school life, ba’t ang high school life ay walang kasing saya
bakit kung graduation na’y luluha kang talaga?

Full Lyrics here:

My attempt to translate the lyrics to english:

( High School Life, why is it so fun/exciting/happy.

Why does tears always comes out on every graduation day. )

I like this meme from Grace, so let me reminisced a little bit about my high school life.

Who was your best friend?
I have a handful of friends, but a bosom friend? I don’t think I have. But we do have a “barkada” a group of friends, whom I still keep in touch till now, and who I always have dinner, hang out with every time I go back home. That would be Cheryl, Bernadette, Erna, Ivy,  and if they are around, Charmae, Cherry Bliss , Jurelie and Lady.  They are not just best friend, they are family.

What kind of car did you drive?
Bandolino :D .. The school is just 15-20 minutes walk from home.

It’s Friday night. Where were you?
At home watching my favorite show. I have a curfew. And beside my friends are also not allowed to roam the streets at night..

Were you considered a flirt?
Nope.

Were you in the band, orchestra, or choir?
Nope. No talent in that department. But I did like our PMT ( Preparatory Military Training) though. Nothing serious,  we were the last batch to have a PMT. The school stop it, cause it looks like promoting war or something in that area. We only do some drills and marching in the shaded area of the school cause the PTA won’t allow staying too much under the sun. I was the Brigade S2 ( Intelligent Officer ) :D

Were you a nerd?
Nope.

Who was your favorite teacher?
The Ma sisters I think. The elder Ma is my Science teacher, and the younger is my English teacher. I learned a lot from them.  The english teacher was very particular specially in pronunciation.

What was your school mascot?
None I think.

Did you go to the Prom?
No prom. They stop having prom, because they taught it was the reason why students get pregnant..

Did you have a job your senior year?
Nope.

Did you go to school with anyone who is now famous?
I don’t know.. ME?? :D

Did you go to a senior trip?
I did went on a trip, but it was for a certain competition. There was not much of a trip those days. Parents are paranoid.

Have you gone to a class reunion?
Not yet.. I so badly want to go .. I hope there would be one soon…

In the Hands of Others

September 7th, 2007 ideru

How would you feel if somebody you like/love/adore is holding somebody’s hands? Do you feel pain, hurt or happy that the person you like finally found his/her happiness even though it is not with you?

I might be weird but when that happens, I don’t feel any sadness a bit disappointed yes, but not hurt. If I see them happy together, I feel happy, that he found his own happiness.

I was told that is because I have not really fallen in LOVE. why? does falling in love mean destroying a happy life because it was not me? Does it mean I have to turn into a witch and ruin other peoples happiness? If that is the case
then Id rather not fall in love.

Love is supposed to free, right? It’s suppose to connote Freedom, to show the world of how you feel, expressing it in its full capacity. As the saying goes: ” If you love someone, set them free. If they come back to you then your are meant to be.”

so why I am writing this, I saw “gwapo” with his gf on  the train today and they look so sweet and cute together :D what a nice pair….and I am totally … SOOOO bored… :D
