Typhoon #4 wrecked havoc all over Japan last week. It was schedule to arrived in Osaka at dawn of July 15th, which is also the same time of the Tenjin Competition. It’s wind can reach up to 50knots accdg to JMA, thankfully it change its mind and swerve a little bit making Sunday a great day for a dragon boat competition.

The original plan was 1 race in the morning and 1 race in the afternoon, much like in Aioi. We did not know how the schedule was change, so by 8:30am on Sunday we received the final decision. All race is in the afternoon. Everybody must be registered starting at 1030am. It was still cloudy and windy but no rain a great day for dragon boat race.

In women’s category the first race was move around 2pm. Super Dolphin and Kappa Team are still our major obstacle :D. We did well in the first race, but not enough to catch to Team Kappa. We still lost to them 7secs and ended up in the 3rd place.

The second race was schedule around 4pm. Unfortunately, during the race the wind got stronger, the waves also get higher than usual so it was really hard to row. Even without looking we know that we were ahead of team Kappa in the first 3oometers, unfortunately we could not maintain our speed and so in the end we still ended up 3rd place. Although we were not far behind Team Kappa. Super Dolhin still ended up first, Team Kappa 2nd and Rise ( my team ) 3rd.

Tenjin is one of Japan’s biggest competition in Dragonboat. And we did receive some freebies.. so yeyyy.. It was a great new experience for me.

In the open competition, the visiting contigent from Thailand got the first place. A very close fight with Japan’s leading team from Yokohama. There were also a Japanese team all the way from Hongkong and another team compose of Japanese and Caucasian. Team from Aioi and Wakayama and even Tokyo were also there.

Anyways, Congrats to all the Teams .. Hopefully we will see in the next year Tenjin Competition
