Glasses, Contacts and Insurance

Living in Japan made me realize the importance of having an insurance. Our company, though provide us with insurance, is not the National Insurance. So we don’t have a card identifying us that we pay it. I’ve used our insurance several times already, and I recieved 100% refund so am not complaining, plus its free, we don’t need to pay 20,000yen per month.

But due to occupational hazard, our eyes is the most stressed part and sometimes it takes its toll . Most optical shops don’t have a resident ( I think ) that you need to visit another or a separate clinic for the check-up. And because I don’t have an insurance card they would warn me ( always ) that the check-up is expensive from 4500 yen - 5000 yen. So either I will pay or look for other optical shops that also have free check up and does not require any insurance.

So for glasses, I found “Hatch” in Kobe Sannomiya, though I think they also have a branch in Umeda/Osaka. They have really cute frame designs. Prices ranges from 2500 - 10,000++ depending upon the design. Check-up , lenses and case are all included in the package.

Contact Lense and Glasses. Megane Super (メガネスパー) in Shinsaibashi also offer the same deal. If you go there on a Saturday, the doctor is available from 3-6 pm, monday 5-9pm, sunday 12-4pm, if you need to be check, if not you can visit anytime.

P.S. this stores did not pay me any form of advertising fee..
